What is Financial Coaching?
Financial Coaches help people explore their life goals, and show them how affordable they could be if they managed their money more effectively. With our training behind them, coaches make financial topics simple, engaging and exciting.
Whether it be budgeting, savings, investments, pensions, mortgages or life insurance, coaches help and empower people to tackle their personal finances in the same way a personal trainer encourages their clients to hit their physical goals.
Equipped with your knowledge and direction, your clients will choose their own financial products with confidence. Coaches don’t recommend products nor rely on hidden commissions. Coaches simply get paid for their time, strongly aligning coach and client interests.
Like all forms of coaching, financial coaching is not a regulated activity. However, it’s vital financial coaching is conducted professionally and to the highest standard, which Hatch is here to help with.
How Will You Work?
As a Hatch Financial Coach, your role will involve helping employees of workplaces, who have sought Hatch's expertise. You will also work to build up your own bank of clients from within your community and network.
Sometimes you will need to travel to workplaces, but more often that not you will work remotely preparing financial plans, before discussing them with the client via phone and screen-share.
You will work flexibly, based on demand for Hatch’s expertise in your area. We will offer you days to visit a local workplace, with reasonable notice, which you can accept or decline. Your earnings will depend on your availability, local demand, and successfully helping your clients achieve their financial goals.
We have already helped the employees of great companies like MoneySuperMarket, Secret Escapes, MoneySavingExpert, Carwow and Octopus Energy to name a few, and there are millions of other people up and down the country in need of financial guidance.
What Training do you Offer?
We offer a comprehensive training, mentoring, and development programme. The training programme requires 20 - 80 hours, depending on experience. It can be completed remotely and in flexible timescales, through e-learning and web-conferencing.
We require a bi-annual visits to our Headquarters in South West London, but you are more than welcome to visit more often if you’re a local or just happen to be passing by.
You don't need to be a financial whizz kid to apply to be a financial coach. We will teach you everything you need to know about pensions, investments, mortgages and insurance.
However, you do need to have a strong academic background, and an exceptional desire to make a positive difference to peoples' lives.
You will have:
- A deep desire to make a difference to hundreds of lives, perhaps evidenced through voluntary work
- Several years experience in professional roles
- Exceptional empathy and influence skills
- A strong academic background, with a 2:1 or higher degree
- Familiarity with investing, pensions and mortgages - or at least a strong interest in learning
- Comfortable building relationships through any media - phone, email, video chat or face to face
- Strong ability to work under your own initiative, and as part of a team
- Strong time management, organisation and attention to detail
You must have access to a quiet working environment at home, with good phone and internet access, as well as a strong desire to work flexibly and locally.
Financial coaching lets you put you put your skills to work, builds upon those skills, and challenges you to use those skills to change lives for the better. And all while working remotely and flexibly, almost as your own boss.
The role offers a fantastic route to various career paths, from becoming a fully fledged financial adviser, to leadership and coaching roles, or learning the entrepreneurial skills needed to run your own business.
You will be paid on a day-rate basis for days you are booked in to coach employees within workplaces, with bonuses based on how many people continue with your services, and their satisfaction levels.
When not coaching employees at some of the UK's top companies, you will have the opportunity to grow your own client bank through your own networking or marketing activities, and we will help you to achieve this.
